SPORT PSYCHOLOGY • 43m
A transition out of sport, regardless of the level of competition, challenges the identity of an athlete. A significant level of attention, time, and money is spent on the athlete while competing, while little is allocated toward the athlete post their sport career. This makes it seem the journey for the person ends when the sport ends. In shocking revelation, this is completely untrue! In fact, the untold story is how many athletes struggle to cope with the loss of athlete identity, while trying to create a new identity. On Beneath the Armor, Asante and Trevor get the amazing opportunity to interview special guests of diverse athletic backgrounds learning their untold story about their transition experience, how they managed it, how it impacted their personal identity, and advice to help future athletes effectively transition out of their sport.
